Spring 2009 Trend Watch-African Safari

Junya Watanabe Spring 2009
Junya Watanabe Spring 2009 Collection

This season's designers are inspired by Africa and its vibrant colors. This new spring trend is fun, easy, and fashionable. Take a cue from designer Junya Watanabe and make a bold statement with a dress full of vivid print and pattern. I love the color and unique style of this dress in particular. It's hard to not get this look right because the dress does all the talking for you! A dress like this will revive you, and everyone else who crosses your path, from winter’s drab. All you need to complete the look is one simple accessory, be it a chunky bracelet or bright-colored stone ring.

Or if you just want a small punch of safari-infused color, try a top layered with a cropped jacket over skinny jeans, (and please don't forget the gladiator sandals.) This is one trend that can be worn by just about anybody because it is showing up on dresses, tops, and even bikini cover ups! Don't be afraid to take a risk, and indulge in this season's playful prints. These can be found all over town at your neighborhood boutiques and department stores. Here are a few pieces to get you started...

Happy Zen Year

OK, so I know that I haven't had the motivation to blog in a while... And not because I dislike fashion or writing about it, but because there has been a drought in fascinating fashion news. So I have decided to create my own news. I want to incorporate real life fashionistas walking the streets and living their own fabulous lives. I think we all have had enough of "reality tv" fashion (ahem thank you Mtv's The Hills and The City.) Not that these girls aren't fabulous too, but honestly just about anyone can drape themselves in the latest designs via daddy's credit card. So it's time to get inspired by women and men that work hard at looking fly, but make it look so easy.
Fashion is not just an outfit it is a state of being. It transcends into the home, your diet, and your lifestyle. Surrounding yourself with things that make you smile and brighten your day is important for living an enriching life. I plan on having more fun with my wardrobe and living space and treating it as a work in progress. I encourage everyone reading this to do the same. And please do not be tempted to give into "instant gratification" when it comes to creativity. I advise to take your time, and savor each moment. 2009 is going to be the year of zen and happiness. Get excited and be ready to be truly inspired and dazzled in the new year!
