What is your inspiration?
Inspiration is the first step in design. When you look at the four walls of a room in your house, think to yourself, “What do I want this room to portray?” It could be a get-away spa, a Japanese Castle, or a simple family room. The key is to have style and functionality work together in each room. Whenever I’m ready to redecorate a room, I begin by flipping through magazines, and checking websites for my inspiration. I find items that I really like and then begin the search to find them in different price ranges. There are some things that are good to splurge on and then there are others that you can do yourself or find cheap. The possibilities are endless. The cool thing is if you’re grooving on a color that is trendy, then you can decorate with inexpensive accessories in that particular color. It makes it really easy to change, when you’re ready for something new. Your home should be a representative of you and your family. Stylish doesn’t always mean expensive, or flashy. Style can be understated and simple, as long as it compliments your individuality. Here are a few websites to check out for today’s entry. www.3rliving.com www.ikea.com www.raredevice.net Inspiration doesn’t have to be rushed. Just take some time to figure out what really works for you. Stop by a few home décor stores, listen to some music, or even look around your house and see what you have just lying around waiting to inspire. Whatever you do, make sure you’re having fun. Tomorrow we’ll take a look at some celebrity homes and get some creative juices flowing.
